Annual Events
In 2019, following the World Service Conference’s request, NA World Services established three more worldwide events on our annual calendar in addition to the longstanding World Unity Day. These events are Sponsorship Day in December, Service Day in May, and Public Relations Week in June.
We encourage you to consider and discuss how your community will celebrate these days. If you have ideas for activities related to these special days, please send your comments to [email protected].

World Unity Day
Every year, we come together to say the Serenity Prayer for the addict who still suffers and to celebrate the miracle of recovery. You can join the 24-hour celebration anytime from 9:00 pm PDT, 5 September to 9:00 pm PDT, 6 September. The Serenity Prayer will be at 9:00 am PDT, 6 September. See below for more information.
All zones and Iran were invited to present during Unity Day. Most chose to participate, and we are excited to see what our worldwide Fellowship brings.
The World Board has seven sessions in the course of the day: two with panels of long-time members (50+ and international old timers), a session about PR including social media efforts, a “Creating Our Future” session featuring panels about young members and women, and a closing session including reflections from some board members. Some of our tireless members have also put together a session on local NA history efforts (thank you Boyd, Chris, and Ron!). And in the center of the day, NA members around the world will all say the Serenity Prayer together at 9am Pacific Time to celebrate our worldwide unity.
The event will be broadcast in English and we are grateful to support interpretation for other language group. We asked regions and zones to forward names of interpreters and we sent a general invite to everyone on the World Services’ mailing list. Each session has a list of languages that it will be translated into.
Also for our ASL signers: we are pleased to offer resources at na.org/asl, and we have just posted some WCNA 38 recordings with ASL interpretation, as well.
At one time we had said we would have sessions about the Issue Discussion Topics Gender Neutral and Inclusive Language in NA Literature and DRT/MAT as It Relates to NA: Helping Members Take Root. We need to continue the conversation about both of these issues, but Unity Day is being held in the webinar format, not a great medium for a conversation. Attendees can’t see either other’s faces or ask questions except by typing. Most of the Unity Day sessions will be pre-recorded. So we will schedule web meetings on these two topics later in the year.

Service Day: 1 May
On this day, we as a Fellowship reflect on the spiritual principles of NA service. To celebrate and encourage more members to serve, many areas plan a service learning day, or a service-related speaker jam or workshop.
PR Week: First Full week in June
PR Week
This year's PR Week is set for 1-7 June 2025.
We encourage every PR area, regional, and zonal committee to commit to at least one activity. We will be offering suggestions, but you are free to get creative and choose what may work best for your committee. We are offering a link to PR week for ideas for activities and resources for posters, banners, billboards, etc.
Activity suggestions highlighted below are from experienced members who participate in NA World Services PR web meetings and zonal PR/Fellowship development meetings. Members who generated these ideas suggested that PR subcommittees order Basic Text blue t-shirts that include the NA PR logo or the NA logo on the front, and the PR week slogan on the back, along with your area/regional/zonal website and/or helpline number.

Activity ideas:
- Commit to follow up with contacts previously initiated.
- Knock on one new door—reach out to a community provider.
- Have a poster/flyer or pharmacy card campaign.
- Donate NA Basic Texts to local, school, and/or college libraries.
- Participate in community health fairs, festivals, community resource days, pride day, etc.
- Collaborate with another area on a combined PR activity.
- Hold learning days that feature NA Traditions and include helpline, website, and H&I members.
- PSAs and NA Videos for professionals
Many PR members may choose virtual activities. Some of the activity areas can happen online.
Culminate your week with a celebration that may feature:
- PR skits with do’s and don’ts for PR.
- PR speakers.
- A 1K fun walk/run or 5K or 10k fun-raising and awareness-raising walk/run that ends in a park with a celebration event.
- Food events such as a barbeque, potluck, chili cook-off, and so on.

The first weekend of September, join us for a heartfelt expression of NA’s worldwide unity as we take a moment to share the Serenity Prayer and reflect on our global Fellowship and our primary purpose: to carry the message to the addict who still suffers.
Sponsorship Day: 1 December
Addicts can celebrate Sponsorship Day in many ways. Many choose to gather with their sponsorship families or read from the Sponsorship book at their meetings. Areas may choose to hold local events such as a sponsor-sponsee speaker jam or brunch.
