Revising The Group Booklet, IP #2, and A Guide to Local Services
We have three overlapping publications intended to guide NA groups — an IP, a booklet, and a handbook. This cycle, the WSC has chosen these materials to be updated for the twenty-first century.

- Revising The Group Booklet, IP #2, and A Guide to Local Services
The Group Booklet, IP #2 The Group, and A Guide to Local Services help groups and local service bodies to carry the message to the addict who still suffers. However, these resources were written for a model of NA service that, in some respects, no longer reflects the world that we live in today. While our message of recovery remains unchanged, many groups have evolved and have made use of technology and other resources that were not available 30 years ago, when these materials were last updated. And as a Fellowship, we have all learned lessons in our efforts. There is benefit from collecting and sharing those with others in NA.
At the 2026 World Service Conference, participants approved a project plan for new and revised service tools. This multi-faceted, likely multi-cycle project aims to deliver revisions to The Group Booklet, IP #2 The Group, and A Guide to Local Services. The first focus will be group tools: replacing the group section of A Guide to Local Services and updating The Group Booklet and IP #2 The Group to reflect current best practices for groups in NA. Later steps will include revising the Area Service Committee portion of A Guide to Local Services, also based on best practices. We believe Fellowship input will broaden our perspective on this work, and we invite you to share yours.
Ideas for the revisions will be collected using focus groups, surveys, Issue Discussion Topic (IDT) workshops, and webinars. Communities are welcome to share the project input form and to host local IDT workshops. Forward any workshop results to us at [email protected].
Use the forms posted at na.org/inputforms to provide input until March 1, 2027:

Next Steps:
Input on changes to The Group Booklet, IP #2 The Group, and A Guide to Local Services will be collected throughout the cycle with deadlines to be announced. Then drafts of those updates will be posted at na.org for a 90-day Fellowship review, as is the standard for Fellowship-approved material. The current goal is to have drafts available for review and input from August to October 2027. Final approval drafts will be included in the 2029 Conference Agenda Report and Conference Approval Track material.
Our plan is to host Fellowship webinars on the topic. All are welcome. Here is a link to the NAWS webinars page: https://na.org/naws-events/webinar/
Resources for NA Groups
We are aware that many members may not know about the resources that are currently available to NA groups. We have created a Group Resources webpage that offers a one-stop location for those materials. Please check it out: na.org/group
